There are three parts of the Auction Setup tab, the Auction Items, Add-Ons, and Paddle Raise. This article will cover adding add-ons and paddle raises. Please refer to this article for adding auction items.
Adding Add-Ons
Add-ons are items that you can sell at your event and record the purchase via the Auctions grid. Add-on items are not visible to the public on the auction page and can only be entered by a DonorView users.
1. On the Auction Setup tab, click on the sub-tab Add On, then +Add Add On.
2. In the new window you can input the following information:
- Sort Order - is the numerical order the item will show on your list on the Auctions grid when adding an add-on item to a constituent's purchase.
- Name - the name of the add-on.
- Description - You can add information about the add-on, but remember this fields is only visible to internal users.
- Price - the price of the add-on.
- Non-Refundable Fee - if someone should ask for a refund, you can establish a non-refundable fee, but again, this is visible to internal users only and can be overridden in the refund process.
- Tax Deductible Amount - the amount, if any, of the add-on purchase that is considered tax-deductible
- Quantity - you can enter an amount here if there is a limited number of this item available. If it is unlimited, you can leave it as 0.
3. Once you have completed the fields, click Update to add this to the list of Add Ons available from the Auctions grid.
Adding Paddle Raise Amounts
Traditionally, a paddle raise is used to collect pledges from guests at your event. These pledges are made for a specific amount to support your cause. This is also sometimes known as "Fund A Need" or "Call to Heart."
The Emcee of the event will solicit support in specific increments, typically starting high and going lower, to hopefully get all the guests to raise their paddle when they get to a level or an activity they wish to pledge their support.
1. You can add your specific paddle raise amounts from the Auction Setup tab by clicking on the Paddle Raise sub-tab, the +Add Paddle Raise.
2. In the new window, you can enter the following information for each paddle raise.
- Sort Order - is the numerical order the item will show on your list on the Auctions grid when adding an paddle raise item to a constituent's purchase.
- Name - the name of the paddle raise amount or activity.
- Description - You can add information about the paddle raise item, but remember this fields is only visible to internal users.
- Price - the price of the paddle raise, which could be a dollar amount or a dollar amount to sponsors a specific activity, like a "6 week summer camp sponsorship" or "new computer equipment for a classroom."
- Tax Deductible Amount - the amount that is considered tax-deductible, typically 100% of the price for donations.
- Default For-Fund-Event-Appeal-Gift Category - to identify the revenue categories this transaction will be assigned.
- Fundraising Goal Category - the Goal Category associated with this transaction to increase the goal progress thermometer/donut.
3. Once you have completed the fields, click Update to add this to the list of paddle raise items available from the Auctions grid.
