Once a user has been assigned a Stripe S700 Terminal, they can launch any online Donation form within their DonorView account and use the terminal to process in-person credit card donations.
Using the Donation Form
- If the donor already has a Constituent record, we recommend opening the Donation form directly from that Constituent’s profile.
- Alternatively, after launching the form, you can use the Constituent Search bar at the top of the screen to find and select an existing Constituent. This will automatically populate their information into the billing section of the Donation form.
- Please note: if the Constituent already has a credit card saved on file, the terminal cannot be used to process a payment with that saved card.
Selecting the Terminal as Payment Method
- Enter the donation details and donor contact information into the form.
- In the Payment Method dropdown, select Terminal.
- The standard Submit button will be replaced with a blue Pay with Card Reader button.
- Click Pay with Card Reader to activate the terminal.
Processing the Payment
- If the terminal is powered off, not connected to Wi-Fi, or not assigned to your user account, an error message will appear.
- When active, the terminal screen will display the donation amount and prompt you to tap or insert the card.
- A beep will confirm the card has been read.
- The terminal will then display either a success message (if the transaction is approved) or an error message (e.g., if the card was declined).
Transaction Confirmation
- The online Donation form will update to show the confirmation or error message.
- Successful transactions will automatically appear on the Gifts grid within DonorView.
