Once your Household record has been created you may have the need to add more Household members. This can be done either on the Profile tab for the Household record, the Relationship tab within the Household record or on the Relationship tab of any Individual Constituent record. If you have not previously added the Head of Household, you can also do so through any of these three methods.

Option 1 - On the Household's Profile Tab

On the Profile screen for a Household record scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find a section titled, “Household Members”. Here you will find a list of all the Individual Constituents who have been assigned to this Household. If this grid is blank, then no Head of Household has yet been assigned. We recommend adding that Head of Household first. To assign a Constituent click the “+” button directly below the section title. This will launch a new screen containing a Constituent Search field. Enter the desired Constituent’s Last Name into the Search field and then scroll through the results to click and select that Constituent. Once selected you will be able to mark them as the Head of Household using the “Is Head of Household” toggle setting if no head was previously assigned. If a Head of Household has already been assigned, you will not be able to assign another. You will see if a Head of Household has already been assigned as that Constituent’s First Name will appear just under that toggle setting.

Next, if you are not assigning this Constituent as the Head of Household, then you are able to select this Individual’s relationship to the Head of House. Clicking on the dropdown picklist for “Relationship to HOH:” setting you can either select from the existing values or you can click “<New/Edit>” to create new values for selection.

The final setting is then “Auto Soft Credit” turning this on will allow for any future transactions created under the Head of Household’s Constituent record to automatically be soft credited to this Constituent. Finally click the “Save” or “Save And New” button to add this Constituent to the Household.

Option 2 - On the Household's Relationship Tab

Within a Household record you can also go to its Relationship tab to view, edit, and add new Household members. On the Relationship tab you will see a grid which will show all the current members of the household. If this grid is blank, then no Head of Household has yet been assigned. We recommend adding that individual first. To assign a Constituent click the green “Add Relationship” button to the right above the grid.

Next if you are not assigning this Constituent as the Head of Household then you are able to select this individual’s relationship to the Head of Household.

Option 3 - On an Individual Constituent’s Relationship Tab

Also, within any Individual’s Constituent record you can add them to a Household as well as view or edit an existing connection to a Household. Once on the Relationships tab you should see two grids. The first is for any General Relationship like employment, other relatives, etc. and then under that you will find the Household Relationships grid. If this grid is blank, then no Head of Household has yet been assigned. We recommend adding that individual first. To assign a Constituent click the green “Add Relationship” button to the right above the grid.

The final setting is then “Auto Soft Credit” turning this on will allow for any future transactions created under the Head of Household’s Constituent record to automatically be soft credited to this Constituent. Finally click the “Save” or “Save And New” button to add this Constituent to the Household.
