A pledge is a constituent's commitment to make a contribution in the future. Pledges can be for a one time cash donation or in-kind gifts like services or materials. Pledges can also be fulfilled with payments made over time, such as a pledge for $1,200 fulfilled by $100 monthly payments over a year. On the Donation Pages, pledges made with payments over time identified as Recurring. 

Pledges on the Gifts Grid

A pledge is considered a transaction, so it will show on the Gifts grid. Each individual payment that is due on that pledge will also show as a transaction. For example, a pledge made for $9000 with $3000 due each year over three years will show as three separate rows on the Gifts grid. The Date will be the date the pledge was initiated, but the Pledge Amount will show each individual payment due amount. Amount will be $0 because the money has not been received yet, it is only committed. 

Pledges Grid

The Fundraising Module has a grid dedicated to pledges. This grid has two views, Detail and Summary. 

• The Detail view, which is the first you see, includes each individual pledge payment due on its own row.
• The Summary View is a list of pledges with summary totals. There will be one row for each pledge and it will indicate the total amount of the pledge, the amount paid so far, and the balance due.
